5 best ways to study and assimilate well

Studying while in school is a great way to
attain or achieve success in your
academics. Studying requires a great
amount of effort and time. Even if you
practice it for days, weeks or a month,
the result won't be productive if your
brain isn’t performing well. Still, there are
fairly easy ways you can apply to improve
quickly and effectively.
If you're having trouble with studying I’m
going to show you a huge list of
techniques and tips to help you attain this
goal and of course to maintain it as time
goes by. Many student find it hard to
study this is because they waste there
time on irrelevant things, and are less
motivated to study. The only time they
study is a day before there exams that's
why there results Keep on worsening.
Even if studying may seem boring, you
have to never (NEVER) give up on
studying. Studying has never been the
most exciting aspects of school but
When you focus your thought in it , you
increase its strength".
With a sense of determination, and by
implementing some effective study
techniques, even the dullest subjects can
be conquered. Keep reading to learn how
to study as a student.
1. Choose a good place for your studies:
While studying it is very important to
choose a good place.Find a calm area,
such as a study room, a
library, or even an empty class where
lessons are finished; if you prefer to
study outdoors, try to find a place where
no distractions are present. Try to stay
away from any environment where people
that will distract you its so you can
concentrate on your work. Learn to be
calmly concentrated and be
concentratedly calm.
2. Make a study Timetable or plan:
Arrange a schedule for study time, Make
a weekly plan of your study sessions, with
specific subjects to study each day. This
allows you to build studying time into a
habit, making you more likely to follow
through on studying. After few weeks
probably months you will adapt to the
schedule, and you will know exactly what
to study, time to spend studying and
when to study every day of the week.
Scheduling your studies will also make
your life easier because managing your
time wisely through the week won't be a
problem, you will have a clear vision of
the time you can spend on activities
different from studying.
3. Keep away smartphones:
Don’t allow your smartphone distract you.
In order for you to not be distracted, it is
advice able to Turn off your smartphone.
This could serve as a huge source of
distraction when you’re trying to study .
Don’t text chat with your friends or your
partner while you are studying, switch off
your phone and switch it on only when
you are taking a break or when you are
done.
4. Get materials for studying:
While studying, all your materials should
be within arm's reach so you don’t
distract yourself by going to search for
maerials. Your studying materials should
include things like notes books,
textbooks, study guides, papers, pen,
pencils or anything else you might need
to concentrate and be productive while
studying, Clean the things that are not
related with what you have to study off
your desk; this will avoid unwanted
distractions.
4. Try to Meditate:
Before starting your studies must do
atleast one practice called meditation.
Meditation is the most
powerful of all studying enhancement
techniques, this teaches you to focus
your mind on one thing at a time.
Actually, when we try to meditate, it is
concentration that is the first thing we
need to master.
5. Stay calm and study:
Before studying a topic, research what
are the most frequently asked questions
for that subject. Start
with 15-20 questions regarding the entire
content; target the most important
aspects and focus your
brain on the primary characteristics.
Moreover, since these issues are the
most demanded, they are
more likely to be requested during an
examination session. You have then the
chance to give a positive response in the
exam because you knew that those
issues would have emerged! start from
the most frequently asked questions to
study something that may be hard to
study. This process will simplify the
subjects you are trying to study (so it
helps with focusing) and will feed your
mind with a general overview of the
entire topic.
5. Get a study partner:
Studying with someone will help you
clarify the concepts you did not
understand well, break the normal routine
of studying alone and make a point on a
subject that may be difficult. Your
knowledge together with the knowledge
of your classmates is a great weapon to
beat the burden of studying.
At last, i want to say that if you follow all
this step as a daily routine then i will
promise you your concentration, grades,
marks must be improved.

HISTORY OF BOKO HARAM AND SOME OF THEIR ACTIVITIES IN NIGERIA [Terrorism]

For many years, Boko Haram has
terrorised Nigeria. The violent Boko Haram
attacks have left deep scars, both visible
and invisible. Check out our article on the
history of Boko Haram in Nigeria to
understand the severity of the group’s
actions. We will tell you everything you
need to know about Boko Haram in
Nigeria.
1.The group became active in 2002
under the Boko Haram leadership of
Mohammed Yusuf. He is now
deceased.
2. It is active mostly in the north-
eastern parts of Nigeria, Chad, Niger
and the north of Cameroon.
3. At first it was believed to be a part of
al-Quaeda, but in 2015, it moved on
to become part of the ISIL (Islamic
State of Iraq and the Levant).
4. The Boko Haram origin of the name
stems from the Hausa phrase that
literally translates as ‘Western
education is forbidden’.
5. The name the group uses to describe
themselves, Jamā'at Ahl as-Sunnah
lid-Da'wah wa'l-Jihād literally
translates as the Group of the People
of Sunnah for Preaching and Jihad.

As we have said before, the group has
been active since 2002. However, if we
are talking about the history of Boko
Haram insurgency in Nigeria, then their
reign of terror began in July 2009. Boko
Haram started an uprising in Bauchi
state, which soon spread to Kano, Borno
and Yobe. The conflict resulted in
hundreds of deaths on the side of both
Boko Haram (including the Boko Haram
leader) and the joint military forces.
Even though their leader had died and
their operational mosque was
destroyed, Boko Haram members
returned a year later with a video that
proclaimed Abubakar Shekau,
Mohammed Yusuf’s right hand, as the
new leader of the group.
And that was when things got worse:
From September 2010, Boko Haram
began frequently organising violent
attacks in Nigeria. During the
inauguration of Goodluck Jonathan in
May 2011, the group detonated several
IEDs near the military barracks in
Bauchi, which resulted in deaths of at
least 10 people.
In August 2011, the UN compound and
the police station suffered from Boko
Haram militant attacks with numerous
injuries and casualties. By November,
the attacks had spread all over the states
of Borno and Yobe.
In January 2012, Boko Haram targeted
multiple places in Kano, which resulted
in over 200 deaths. In August, some
media sources claimed that Boko Haram
had started peace talks with the
Nigerian government, but the group
itself denied those claims.
In April 2013, the joint forces from
Nigeria, Chad and Niger fought Boko
Haram forces in Baga, Borno State,
which resulted in over 200 casualties,
including civilians. In June, several
churches suffered from Boko Haram
attacks, adding another 50 people to the
death toll.
But things did not end there:
In September 2013, several members of
Boko Haram posed as the Nigerian
military and killed over 100 people at a
fake checkpoint in Borno. In November,
the U.S. added Boko Haram of Nigeria to
the list of terrorist organisations. It took
them four years to realise the severity
of the situation.
In 2014, even more people from Borno
State suffered from Boko Haram attacks.
However, the most shocking thing
happened in April, when Boko Haram
kidnapped 276 young girls that were on
their way to school in Chibok, Borno.
This has sparked an outrage even
outside of Nigeria and attracted
international attention to the problem.
Despite the attention, the Nigerian
government has not managed to come
to an agreement with Boko Haram to get
the hostages back. On the contrary, Boko
Haram continued their attacks and
kidnappings, adding to the amount of
casualties. All the attempts of ceasefire
had failed.
Things only got worse from there:
In 2015, Boko Haram attacks got even
more violent. They started to use young
girls in suicide bombings and beheaded
those who had crossed them. In March
2015, Boko Haram pledged allegiance to
ISIS, and ISIS accepted the pledge.
In the meantime, Nigerian troops were
able to find several Boko Haram bases
and release some of the hostages kept
there. However, the kidnapped girls
were nowhere to be found. In addition,
the military forces came across mass
graves of Boko Haram victims.
Boko Haram attacks happened with
alarming periodicity. All the way until
the end of 2015, numerous villages
suffered from Boko Haram. However,
the allied forces were also able to get
some ground back. In September 2015,
the Nigerian military managed to rescue
almost 250 captives and arrest some of
the Boko Haram Members.
In August 2016, ISIS appointed a new
head of Boko Haram, Abu Musab al-
Barnawi, who was meant to replace
Abubakar Shekau. However, in
December 2016, he was arrested, and
Shekau resumed his reign. Nevertheless,
the group split, which led to the
weakening of its positions.
But what about the kidnapped girls?
As for the Chibok girls, some of them
managed to escape earlier on. Others
were not that lucky. In April 2016, Boko
Haram posted a video with some of the
kidnapped schoolgirls to prove that they
were alive. In October, Boko Haram
used the girls as the means of
negotiation to exchange them for the
imprisoned Boko Haram members.
In May 2016, two of the kidnapped girls
were found wandering around the
Sambisa Forest. In October 2016, Boko
Haram released 21 girls in exchange for
some of their captured comrades. In
May 2017, 82 more girls were rescued.
Despite the loud campaigns and
international attention, many girls
remain in captivity. Some were reported
dead, while the fate of the others is
unknown.
It is 2017, and despite splitting and
partly falling apart, Boko Haram
continues to terrorise Nigeria. Every
month, sometimes even more often,
there is news of another bombing or
attack from Boko Haram, the most
recent being in August. It seems that
nothing will ever stop this ever-present
threat.
We pray that one day Nigeria will be
able to finally live in peace, and that
such violent groups like Boko Haram
will never be able to disrupt the lives of
civilians ever again.

APC is a ‘one-chance’ vehicle -PDP chieftain; Barrister Kabiru Tanimu says.

The All Progressives Congress (APC), has
been described as a ‘one-chance vehicle’
wrongly boarded by Nigerians in 2015,
by Barrister Kabiru Tanimu Turaki,
SAN, Vanguard reports.
Turaki, a former
Minister of Special Duties and
Intergovernmental Affairs, and
chairman of the Forum of former
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
Ministers, stated that in 2019, the
mistake made by Nigerians would be
corrected.
Why the north must accept
restructuring - Northern chieftain
He stated: “The good people of Kebbi
State, like most Nigerians, have realized
that with APC, they have entered a one
chance vehicle and are now poised to
correct that mistake. “So, PDP in Kebbi,
like everywhere else in Nigeria is on the
march again.
“Like in most places, the PDP in Kebbi
State is poised to re-strategise and

the chairman of the National Caretaker
Committee of the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP), revealed how the former

Outlining the strategy, Makarfi stated
that once the opposition party was able
to reconcile its aggrieved members,
recruit news ones and build a vast war
chest, it would recover power from the
All Progressives Congress (APC).

WHERE DO REGISTERED NURSED(RNs) WORK?

Where do registered nurses (RNs) work? The obvious answer is a clinic or a hospital. But the reality is that RNs work in a variety of different settings, specialties and environments—some of which may really surprise and intrigue you!
If you’re considering becoming an RN, there are several fascinating work environments from which to choose. That’s good news for those who are freaked out by hospitals or don’t like the clinic setting. It’s time to get educated on where RNs can actually work. We connected with one RN who’s held a range of positions in the industry to help give you a sneak peek into some of your options.
11 surprising places where RNs work
After perusing this list, you’ll understand that RNs have a wide array of options—both when it comes to the work environment and the daily duties you will perform. The key is finding a good fit that aligns with your skills and interests.
1. Camps
Amidst the cabins, canoes and canteens there are medical professionals helping to make sure summer camps are a safe place for kids. As a camp nurse you will perform a variety of duties, all while enjoying the very unique and serene camp setting.
Jennifer Schmid is an RN and natural wellness educator and recalls her experience as a camp nurse as being fun and rewarding. She loved working with children in such a picturesque environment. She says her wide range of duties included pulling out splinters, administering medications, wound care, liaising with parents and providing lots of hugs.
“Camp nursing is a great opportunity for new grad RNs who enjoy nature and want to improve their skills fast,” Schmid says.
2. Correctional Facilities
As the number of detainees in America continues to rise, so does the need for medical care in our correctional facilities . Correctional facilities nurses care for detainees dealing with a wide range of medical problems, from diabetes to seizure disorders to HIV. Obviously, working with incarcerated individuals will have its risks and requires an individual with thick skin and an interest in caring for potentially dangerous patients.
3. Schools
It’s probably not surprising that nurses work in schools, but it is often overlooked. Whether you’re at the elementary or college level, school nurses are needed to take vitals, give basic care and facilitate the need for urgent care from a physician.
Schmid was assigned to work at a high school that had two students with Type 1 diabetes. On top of her normal duties, she was responsible for helping them measure their blood sugar before meals and administer insulin when necessary. “I loved working with these students and their faculty,” Schmid says. “They were so appreciative of my help as well as what I taught them about nutrition and how certain foods affect blood sugar.”
4. Patients' homes
It may surprise you to learn that there are still a large number of medical professionals working out of patients’ homes. Whether you are caring for elderly individuals or those with developmental disabilities, you may help with with basic living skills, bodily functions and of course administering medical care. This is a really rewarding option if you enjoy getting to know your patients on a very personal level.
5. Places of worship
Some churches, synagogues and other religious institutions employ faith community nurses . These nurses often follow the same practices as holistic nurses, taking into consideration the religious practices of their particular faith. As a faith community nurse, you may be asked to provide education on health topics, spiritual and physical wellness counsel and holistic methods of care.
6. Airplanes/helicopters
As a flight or transport nurse , you stick to the skies, performing care for those en route. You may work for a hospital system, strictly caring for patients being airlifted in helicopters, or as part of an airline specialized staff , providing care to specific airline passengers in need of constant medical attention.
7. Publication companies
Some experienced RNs looking for a change of pace may move on to become nursing writers, consultants or historians. These nurses may be involved in writing, editing and proofreading technical material for an educational textbook or a biomedical research project. They may even work as a script consultant for television shows and movies featuring nurses.
8. Missionary clinics
Missionary nurses work all over the world in clinics or hospitals that are often owned and operated by missional organizations. As a missionary nurse, you will get to share your faith while giving vital care and medical education to people of another culture.
9. Courts of law
Nurses working in courts of law are most likely forensic nurses , meaning they are trained in medical evidence collection and the criminal justice system. As a forensic nurse, your duties will likely include taking blood and tissue samples, collecting other vital bodily evidence and providing support and comfort for victims.
10. War zones and military bases
Military nurses care for patients within our armed forces at bases and in war zones all across the globe. As a military nurse, you will have the unique opportunity to care for others while serving our country and experiencing other places and cultures.
11. Your own office!
Whether you branch off to become a private nurse educator, a holistic consultant or a nursing blogger, you could find yourself working for yourself someday. If you have the entrepreneurial spirit, think about the work-from-home nursing jobs you could land by becoming an RN first.
“Having my own office space means I can be flexible and work when it is most convenient for my clients, my children and myself,” says Schmid. She loves being a work-from-home holistic nurse because she’s able to foster one-on-one relationships with clients, helping her identify the most effective way to facilitate their healing—all on her own time!
Now what?
_So where do RNs work? The answer is *everywhere!* Now you’re aware that RNs work in a variety of settings and perform a whole slew of special duties. But the question remains: is becoming an RN going to get you where you want to be? You should be able to confidently answer that question before you commit to a nursing credential._

HIV AIDS IS NOW CURABLE, CLICK TO KNOW HOW TO CURE IT

Scientists have engineered an antibody that attacks 99% of HIV strains and can prevent infection in primates.
It is built to attack three critical parts of the virus - making it harder for HIV to resist its effects.
The work is a collaboration between the US National Institutes of Health and the pharmaceutical company Sanofi.
The International Aids Society said it was an "exciting breakthrough". Human trials will start in 2018 to see if it can prevent or treat infection.
Our bodies struggle to fight HIV because of the virus' incredible ability to mutate and change its appearance.
There varieties of HIV - or strains - in a single patient are comparable to those of influenza during a worldwide flu season .
So the immune system finds itself in a fight against an insurmountable number of strains of HIV.
Super-antibodies
But after years of infection, a small number of patients develop powerful weapons called "broadly neutralising antibodies" that attack something fundamental to HIV and can kill large swathes of HIV strains.
Researchers have been trying to use broadly neutralising antibodies as a way to treat HIV, or prevent infection in the first place.
The study, published in the journal Science , combines three such antibodies into an even more powerful "tri-specific antibody".
Dr Gary Nabel, the chief scientific officer at Sanofi and one of the report authors, told the BBC News website: "They are more potent and have greater breadth than any single naturally occurring antibody that's been discovered."
The best naturally occurring antibodies will target 90% of HIV strains.
"We're getting 99% coverage, and getting coverage at very low concentrations of the antibody," said Dr Nabel.
Experiments on 24 monkeys showed none of those given the tri-specific antibody developed an infection when they were later injected with the virus.
Dr Nabel said: "It was quite an impressive degree of protection."
The work included scientists at Harvard Medical School, The Scripps Research Institute, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
'Exciting'
Clinical trials to test the antibody in people will start next year.
Prof Linda-Gail Bekker, the president of the International Aids Society, told the BBC: "This paper reports an exciting breakthrough.
"These super-engineered antibodies seem to go beyond the natural and could have more applications than we have imagined to date.
"It's early days yet, and as a scientist I look forward to seeing the first trials get off the ground in 2018.
"As a doctor in Africa, I feel the urgency to confirm these findings in humans as soon as possible."
Dr Anthony Fauci, the director of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said it was an intriguing approach.
He added: "Combinations of antibodies that each bind to a distinct site on HIV may best overcome the defences of the virus in the effort to achieve effective antibody-based treatment and prevention."

Fake doctor, nurse arraigned for causing death of patient

A self proclaimed nurse identified as Abdulkareem Shehu and a Doctor, Dr Farajimakin Olugbenga, were on Tuesday arraigned before an Ikeja High Court, Lagos for allegedly causing the death of their patient, one Eunice Omokhudu.
The medical practitioners, who both pleaded not guilty, were arraigned on a three count of involuntary manslaughter, gross negligence and reckless disregard for human life.
The prosecuting officer, M.T Adewoye, told the court that the incident occurred on June 5, 2016 at House No 14, William Akintunde Street, Abule Egba, Lagos.
According to the charge, Shehu illegally portrayed himself as medical doctor and operated in a clinic, Glorious Mercy Clinic, which was not duly registered.
It was further stated that Shehu admitted patients into his clinic and often times requested for his friend, Dr Olugbenga’s assistance in running tests and other medical checkups on admitted patients.
It was also learnt that Shehu admitted the deceased into his clinic where she died over an undisclosed ailment. And thereafter issued a false statement for the purpose of registration of death regarding the deceased.
However, the 2nd defendant, Olugbenga’s, who was alleged to be former medical doctor at the Lagos State teaching hospital, claimed in his statement that he was unaware that Shehu was not a doctor.
He stated that he didn’t know that Shehu was not a certified doctor but a nurse and that he only assisted him as a friend in the same profession.
The presiding judge, Justice Hakeem Oshodi, however, permitted the defendants to continue with the bail term which was granted them by a Magistrate Court, Lagos.
The matter was further adjourned till November 27 for trial.

Lawyer threatens to sue JAMB over refusal to upload candidates’ UTME results

AN Osogbo based legal practitioner, Mr Bolarinwa Abidoye, on Wednesday threatened to sue the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) over alleged failure of the examination body to upload result of his ward and several others candidates that chose Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile Ife, as first choice.
Abidoye, who claimed he will institute litigation against the examination body as a parent, and on behalf of many other candidates of JAMB, whose results were not sent to their institutions, accused JAMB of alleged negligence.
While speaking to the Nigerian Tribune, in Osogbo, Abidoye, who maintained that JAMB admitted not uploading the result of his son in error, lamented that Abidoye Alfred Ajibade, his child, scored 237 and intend studying Law in Obafemi Awolowo University, (OAU).
According to him, “to our surprise, JAMB has refused to upload result of my son. I later discovered several other candidates’ results are being held by JAMB for no reason. Registration for post UTME of OAU closes in another 24 hours and yet the result has not been uploaded to OAU website by JAMB.”
My son is depressed. In the course of struggling to get to the root of the matter, my wife, Mrs Abidoye went to JAMB office in Abuja to find out. Head of ICT of the exam body, Mr. Okoro was not on seat. The next officer to him, Mrs Usman was not on seat. One Mr Adewale who spoke to us, owned up to the error. He said it was a mistake on their part that the result was not uploaded”.
To our dismay, he said nothing may be done on the issue until Thursday (Today) when registration for post UTME for those that chose OAU would have ended.
“I also met the state officer of JAMB, one Mrs Alade. She initially claimed they have uploaded result of all OAU candidates. She later recanted. Alot of candidates that i met there could not just bear the trauma. You know they are kids. Many of them were crying and yet, no solution in sight. I am taking JAMB to court to demand a sum of N1billion onbehalf of all those that have suffered negative consequence of JAMB’s negligence,” Abioye remarked.
All efforts to reach officer in-charge of Osun JAMB office, proved futile as several calls to her mobile line did not go through.
