book their place at 2018 FIFA World Cup
Russia™ after a 1-0 win over Zambia in Uyo
earned them an unassailable lead at the head of
Group B.
Alex Iwobi repeated his feat of being the thorn
in the Zambians' side, once again finding
himself on the scoresheet against the
Chipolopolo. Having scored in the first Group B
game between the sides, he came off the
bench in the second half to end Zambian hopes
of creating a final day climax on 6 November,
instead seeing the Super Eagles book a spot at

What is hypertension: risk factors , types, categories and solutions.

Hypertension is common. However, despite being common, a lot of people aren’t fully aware of what it is, what damages it can cause, and why it happens. Affecting about 75 million Americans and killing about 41,000 Americans in 2014, it’s important to draft the right nursing care plan for hypertension. This will help ensure that patients’ individual needs are met and proper care is delivered.

What Is Hypertension?
Hypertension is more commonly known as high blood pressure. It happens when the pressure of your blood that gets pumped through your arteries goes beyond the norm and what the body can handle.

Because there are usually no signs and symptoms, hypertension is popularly called as the “silent killer”. As patients don’t feel any dramatic change in how they feel, the constant pressure in the arteries usually ends up causing serious damage and health problems.

The list includes:
Heart attack
Metabolic syndrome
Heart failure
Aneurysm
Narrowing and weakening of the blood vessels in the kidneys
Narrowing and weakening of the blood vessels in the eyes
Issues with memory
Hypertension can happen in one of three adults worldwide. Middle aged men who are around 45 years of age frequently develop the condition. And it’s not just the adults who can have high blood pressure.

Children who are inactive, living an unhealthy lifestyle and those who are obese can be hypertensive, too.

Other risk factors for hypertension include:
Race
It’s been established that people with dark skin are more predisposed to getting high blood pressure than those who have pale skin.

Age
As you age, the walls of the arteries become less and less flexible. This prevents the walls of the arteries from opening effectively as they should. This greatly increases peripheral resistance.

Genetics
Having people in the family with hypertension increases your likelihood of developing it, too.

Diet
Having too much salt as well as having too little potassium in your daily diet can cause your blood pressure to be constantly elevated. Drinking too much alcohol counts, too.

Obesity
Weighing more means needing more oxygen to supply nutrients and oxygen to your tissues. This increase in demand also increases the pressure on the artery walls.

Types of Hypertension
There are two major types of hypertension.

Essential hypertension
Essential hypertension is when you have a high blood pressure reading in three or more visit to the doctor. This is after all possible causes of hypertension have been ruled out.

It’s typical for patients with essential hypertension to not experience any symptoms. However, there are patients who experience frequent headaches, dizziness and tiredness.

Secondary hypertension
Secondary hypertension refers to high blood pressure caused by other medical conditions, like diseases that affect the kidneys, endocrine system and heart. In some cases, one can also develop it during pregnancy.

Categories of Hypertension
Doctors usually categorize blood pressure into the following:
Normal blood pressure-120/80 mmHg and lower
Prehypertension- 120-139 / 80-89 mmHg
Stage 1 hypertension- 140-159 / 90-99 mmHg
Stage 2 hypertension- 160 / 100 mmHg or higher

Hypertension Nursing Care Plans
If you are caring for a hypertensive patient, you need to be thorough in planning your care. To help you get started, here are some of the essential nursing care plans for hypertension you need to prepare.

1. Activity intolerance
May be related to
-Imbalance between oxygen supply and demand
-Generalized weakness
-Sedentary lifestyle

Possibly evidenced by
-Exertional discomfort
-Abnormal blood pressure in response to activity
-Verbal report of fatigue

Desired outcomes
-Demonstrate a decrease in physiological signs of intolerance
-Participate in desired activity
-Use identified techniques to enhance activity tolerance
-Report an increase in physical activity

2. Knowledge, deficient regarding condition, treatment plan and lifestyle changes
May be related to
-Information misinterpretation
-Unfamiliarity with information resources
-Lack of knowledge
-Denial of diagnosis

Possibly evidenced by
-Verbalization of the problem
-Statements reflecting misconceptions
-Request for information

Desired outcomes
-Verbalize understanding of condition/disease process and treatment
-Initiate necessary lifestyle changes and participate in treatment regimen
-Exhibit increased interest/assume responsibility for own health
-Maintain blood pressure within normal range

3. Imbalanced nutrition: more than body requirements
May be related to
-Excessive intake in relationship to metabolic need
-Sedentary lifestyle

As evidenced by
-Weight 20% over ideal for height and frame
-Triceps skin fold greater than 15 mm in men and 25 mm in Women
-Weight 10% over ideal for height and frame
-Reports of dysfunctional eating patterns

Desired outcomes
-Demonstrate appropriate changes in lifestyle and behaviors, including eating patterns, food quantity/quality, and exercise Program
-Attain desirable body weight

#Amazing: Obasanjo Names Lion Cub “Aremu” for #1 million

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo
has adopted one of the three newborn
lion cubs inside the new Olusegun
Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL),
Abeokuta Wildlife Park, christening the
animal ‘ Aremu ’, his traditional name .
The OOPL Wildlife Park is a section of
the presidential library , which houses
over 140 indigenous and exotic animals .
It was set up to encourage wildlife
conservation, educate the general
public, promote tourism and also
support research.
In a release by his media aide , Kehinde
Akinyemi , Obasanjo’s naming of the cub
also attracted a one million naira
donation for the animal ’ s upkeep , with
a call on Nigerians to come to the aid of
some animal species that face extinction
in the nearest future.
The former president, who spoke
through the Managing Director of OOPL
Ventures, Vitalis Ortese, at the opening
ceremony of the Wildlife Park and
Animal ADOPTION (Animals Depend On
People Too), said the name adoption of
the animals in the park was aimed at
recruiting individual and corporate
partners who would support the park in
providing the financial resources for the
preservation and care of animals that
are on the brink of extinction as a
result of increased human activities.
The national president, National
Association of Zoo And Parks (NAZAP ),
Dr. Morenikeji Olajumoke , urged the
government to brace up to the
challenges facing wildlife in the
country , hinting that at present , some
species face extinction in the country ,
“ and , we must do something to it fast,
because of their benefits to humanity
too .
“ Among the animals that are facing
extinction is the Pangolin otherwise
known as bush meat (eran ‘ gbe).
Already in China, we cannot find it
anymore and they are shifting attention
to Africa , particularly in Nigeria . And
this is an animal that eliminates about
70 million pests in our forests annually.
So, if we do not quickly address this, the
pests will be available to destroy our
forests too ,” she said .

President Buhari 57th independence address 2017

- As Nigeria celebrates its 57th
Independence celebration on October 1,
2017, President has addressed the nation
- In his speech he thanked Nigerians for
their support and said it was important to
remember the journey of Nigeria
- He also spoke on the fight against
corruption and the progresses his
government has made
President Muhammadu Buhari is
currently addressing Nigerians live on
national television today, October 1
At 7:00am, President Buhari began by
saying: "October 1st remains an
important date for all Nigerians, as the
day we attained one of the most
important desire of humans -freedom. It
is day for celebration and rededication."

He also said: "The PDP government
squandered the government's resources
and we were left with no savings and
depleted infrastructure deficit."
Speaking on the APC campaign, he said:
"The APC government’s campaign
rallying cry to restore security, re-
balance the economy and fight
corruption was not all rhetoric.
"The country must first be secured. The
economy must be re-balanced so that we
do not depend on oil alone. We must
fight corruption which is Nigeria’s
number one enemy. Our administration
is tackling these tasks in earnest.
At 7:04am, speaking on the agitations
and calls for restructuring, he said:
"Many irresponsible groups are calling
for a rerun of the civil war, those doing
this were not born by 1967.
"As a young Army Officer, I took part
from the beginning to the end in our
tragic civil war costing about 2m lives,
resulting in fearful destruction and
untold suffering. Those who are
agitating for a re-run were not born by
1967 and have no idea of the horrendous
consequences of the civil conflict which
we went through.
"I am very disappointed that responsible
leaders of these communities do not
warn their hot-headed youths what the
country went through. Those who were
there should tell those who were not
there, the consequences of such folly."

help improve the judiciary and sancytion
any udges found corrupt.
"Fighting coruption is important. I call
on all Nigerians to fight corruption by
refusing and not asking for bribes and
also by whistle blowing.
"As we enter the second term, we intend
to accelerate progress. Thank you and
happy holidays. God bless our country."

HISTORY OF BOKO HARAM AND SOME OF THEIR ACTIVITIES IN NIGERIA [Terrorism]

For many years, Boko Haram has
terrorised Nigeria. The violent Boko Haram
attacks have left deep scars, both visible
and invisible. Check out our article on the
history of Boko Haram in Nigeria to
understand the severity of the group’s
actions. We will tell you everything you
need to know about Boko Haram in
Nigeria.
1.The group became active in 2002
under the Boko Haram leadership of
Mohammed Yusuf. He is now
deceased.
2. It is active mostly in the north-
eastern parts of Nigeria, Chad, Niger
and the north of Cameroon.
3. At first it was believed to be a part of
al-Quaeda, but in 2015, it moved on
to become part of the ISIL (Islamic
State of Iraq and the Levant).
4. The Boko Haram origin of the name
stems from the Hausa phrase that
literally translates as ‘Western
education is forbidden’.
5. The name the group uses to describe
themselves, Jamā'at Ahl as-Sunnah
lid-Da'wah wa'l-Jihād literally
translates as the Group of the People
of Sunnah for Preaching and Jihad.

As we have said before, the group has
been active since 2002. However, if we
are talking about the history of Boko
Haram insurgency in Nigeria, then their
reign of terror began in July 2009. Boko
Haram started an uprising in Bauchi
state, which soon spread to Kano, Borno
and Yobe. The conflict resulted in
hundreds of deaths on the side of both
Boko Haram (including the Boko Haram
leader) and the joint military forces.
Even though their leader had died and
their operational mosque was
destroyed, Boko Haram members
returned a year later with a video that
proclaimed Abubakar Shekau,
Mohammed Yusuf’s right hand, as the
new leader of the group.
And that was when things got worse:
From September 2010, Boko Haram
began frequently organising violent
attacks in Nigeria. During the
inauguration of Goodluck Jonathan in
May 2011, the group detonated several
IEDs near the military barracks in
Bauchi, which resulted in deaths of at
least 10 people.
In August 2011, the UN compound and
the police station suffered from Boko
Haram militant attacks with numerous
injuries and casualties. By November,
the attacks had spread all over the states
of Borno and Yobe.
In January 2012, Boko Haram targeted
multiple places in Kano, which resulted
in over 200 deaths. In August, some
media sources claimed that Boko Haram
had started peace talks with the
Nigerian government, but the group
itself denied those claims.
In April 2013, the joint forces from
Nigeria, Chad and Niger fought Boko
Haram forces in Baga, Borno State,
which resulted in over 200 casualties,
including civilians. In June, several
churches suffered from Boko Haram
attacks, adding another 50 people to the
death toll.
But things did not end there:
In September 2013, several members of
Boko Haram posed as the Nigerian
military and killed over 100 people at a
fake checkpoint in Borno. In November,
the U.S. added Boko Haram of Nigeria to
the list of terrorist organisations. It took
them four years to realise the severity
of the situation.
In 2014, even more people from Borno
State suffered from Boko Haram attacks.
However, the most shocking thing
happened in April, when Boko Haram
kidnapped 276 young girls that were on
their way to school in Chibok, Borno.
This has sparked an outrage even
outside of Nigeria and attracted
international attention to the problem.
Despite the attention, the Nigerian
government has not managed to come
to an agreement with Boko Haram to get
the hostages back. On the contrary, Boko
Haram continued their attacks and
kidnappings, adding to the amount of
casualties. All the attempts of ceasefire
had failed.
Things only got worse from there:
In 2015, Boko Haram attacks got even
more violent. They started to use young
girls in suicide bombings and beheaded
those who had crossed them. In March
2015, Boko Haram pledged allegiance to
ISIS, and ISIS accepted the pledge.
In the meantime, Nigerian troops were
able to find several Boko Haram bases
and release some of the hostages kept
there. However, the kidnapped girls
were nowhere to be found. In addition,
the military forces came across mass
graves of Boko Haram victims.
Boko Haram attacks happened with
alarming periodicity. All the way until
the end of 2015, numerous villages
suffered from Boko Haram. However,
the allied forces were also able to get
some ground back. In September 2015,
the Nigerian military managed to rescue
almost 250 captives and arrest some of
the Boko Haram Members.
In August 2016, ISIS appointed a new
head of Boko Haram, Abu Musab al-
Barnawi, who was meant to replace
Abubakar Shekau. However, in
December 2016, he was arrested, and
Shekau resumed his reign. Nevertheless,
the group split, which led to the
weakening of its positions.
But what about the kidnapped girls?
As for the Chibok girls, some of them
managed to escape earlier on. Others
were not that lucky. In April 2016, Boko
Haram posted a video with some of the
kidnapped schoolgirls to prove that they
were alive. In October, Boko Haram
used the girls as the means of
negotiation to exchange them for the
imprisoned Boko Haram members.
In May 2016, two of the kidnapped girls
were found wandering around the
Sambisa Forest. In October 2016, Boko
Haram released 21 girls in exchange for
some of their captured comrades. In
May 2017, 82 more girls were rescued.
Despite the loud campaigns and
international attention, many girls
remain in captivity. Some were reported
dead, while the fate of the others is
unknown.
It is 2017, and despite splitting and
partly falling apart, Boko Haram
continues to terrorise Nigeria. Every
month, sometimes even more often,
there is news of another bombing or
attack from Boko Haram, the most
recent being in August. It seems that
nothing will ever stop this ever-present
threat.
We pray that one day Nigeria will be
able to finally live in peace, and that
such violent groups like Boko Haram
will never be able to disrupt the lives of
civilians ever again.

Fake doctor, nurse arraigned for causing death of patient

A self proclaimed nurse identified as Abdulkareem Shehu and a Doctor, Dr Farajimakin Olugbenga, were on Tuesday arraigned before an Ikeja High Court, Lagos for allegedly causing the death of their patient, one Eunice Omokhudu.
The medical practitioners, who both pleaded not guilty, were arraigned on a three count of involuntary manslaughter, gross negligence and reckless disregard for human life.
The prosecuting officer, M.T Adewoye, told the court that the incident occurred on June 5, 2016 at House No 14, William Akintunde Street, Abule Egba, Lagos.
According to the charge, Shehu illegally portrayed himself as medical doctor and operated in a clinic, Glorious Mercy Clinic, which was not duly registered.
It was further stated that Shehu admitted patients into his clinic and often times requested for his friend, Dr Olugbenga’s assistance in running tests and other medical checkups on admitted patients.
It was also learnt that Shehu admitted the deceased into his clinic where she died over an undisclosed ailment. And thereafter issued a false statement for the purpose of registration of death regarding the deceased.
However, the 2nd defendant, Olugbenga’s, who was alleged to be former medical doctor at the Lagos State teaching hospital, claimed in his statement that he was unaware that Shehu was not a doctor.
He stated that he didn’t know that Shehu was not a certified doctor but a nurse and that he only assisted him as a friend in the same profession.
The presiding judge, Justice Hakeem Oshodi, however, permitted the defendants to continue with the bail term which was granted them by a Magistrate Court, Lagos.
The matter was further adjourned till November 27 for trial.

Here are 5 lifestyle changes you can make to lower your blood pressure and keep it down.

Hypertension is one of the deadly disease affecting Africans and the worldly entirely now.
Here are 5 lifestyle changes you can make to
lower your blood pressure  down.
1. Lose extra pounds and watch your
waistline

Blood pressure often increases as weight
increases. Being overweight also can cause
disrupted breathing while you sleep (sleep
apnea), which further raises your blood
pressure.
Weight loss is one of the most effective lifestyle
changes for controlling blood pressure. Losing
just 10 pounds (4.5 kilograms) can help reduce
your blood pressure.
Besides shedding pounds, you generally should
also keep an eye on your waistline. Carrying too
much weight around your waist can put you at
greater risk of high blood pressure.
In general:
Men are at risk if their waist measurement
is greater than 40 inches (102 centimeters).
Women are at risk if their waist
measurement is greater than 35 inches (89
centimeters).
These numbers vary among ethnic groups. Ask
your doctor about a healthy waist measurement
for you.
2. Exercise regularly
Regular physical activity — at least 30 minutes
most days of the week — can lower your blood
pressure by 4 to 9 millimeters of mercury (mm
Hg). It's important to be consistent because if
you stop exercising, your blood pressure can
rise again.
If you have slightly high blood pressure
(prehypertension), exercise can help you avoid
developing full-blown hypertension. If you
already have hypertension, regular physical
activity can bring your blood pressure down to
safer levels.
The best types of exercise for lowering blood
pressure include walking, jogging, cycling,
swimming or dancing. Strength training also can
help reduce blood pressure. Talk to your doctor
about developing an exercise program.
3. Eat a healthy diet
Eating a diet that is rich in whole grains, fruits,
vegetables and low-fat dairy products and
skimps on saturated fat and cholesterol can
lower your blood pressure by up to 14 mm Hg.
This eating plan is known as the Dietary
Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet.
It isn't easy to change your eating habits, but
with these tips, you can adopt a healthy diet:
Keep a food diary. Writing down what you
eat, even for just a week, can shed
surprising light on your true eating habits.
Monitor what you eat, how much, when and
why.
Consider boosting potassium. Potassium
can lessen the effects of sodium on blood
pressure. The best source of potassium is
food, such as fruits and vegetables, rather
than supplements. Talk to your doctor about
the potassium level that's best for you.
Be a smart shopper. Read food labels when
you shop and stick to your healthy-eating
plan when you're dining out, too.
4. Reduce sodium in your diet
Even a small reduction in the sodium in your
diet can reduce blood pressure by 2 to 8 mm
Hg.
The effect of sodium intake on blood pressure
varies among groups of people. In general, limit
sodium to less than 2,300 milligrams (mg) a day
or less. However, a lower sodium intake — 1,500
mg a day or less — is appropriate for people
with greater salt sensitivity, including:
African-Americans
Anyone age 51 or older
Anyone diagnosed with high blood pressure,
diabetes or chronic kidney disease
To decrease sodium in your diet, consider these
tips:
Read food labels. If possible, choose low-
sodium alternatives of the foods and
beverages you normally buy.
Eat fewer processed foods. Only a small
amount of sodium occurs naturally in foods.
Most sodium is added during processing.
Don't add salt. Just 1 level teaspoon of salt
has 2,300 mg of sodium. Use herbs or
spices to add flavor to your food.
Ease into it. If you don't feel you can
drastically reduce the sodium in your diet
suddenly, cut back gradually. Your palate
will adjust over time.
5. Limit the amount of alcohol you drink
Alcohol can be both good and bad for your
health. In small amounts, it can potentially lower
your blood pressure by 2 to 4 mm Hg.
But that protective effect is lost if you drink too
much alcohol — generally more than one drink a
day for women and for men older than age 65,
or more than two a day for men age 65 and
younger. One drink equals 12 ounces of beer,
five ounces of wine or 1.5 ounces of 80-proof
liquor.
Drinking more than moderate amounts of alcohol
can actually raise blood pressure by several
points. It can also reduce the effectiveness of
blood pressure medications. your blood pressure and keep it down.

Do you know Edo doctors use candles to treat patients?

According to Kemi, a freelancer report that:
Edo State chapter of Nigerian Medical
Association, NMA, has raised the alarm over
what it described as the sorry state of health
facilities in the state, regretting that doctors are
using candles in hospital wards rather than
electricity.
It, therefore, urged the state government to
revamp health care facilities in the state to stop
unnecessary deaths in hospitals. The state
chairman of NMA, Dr Emmanuel Osaigbovo,
who raised the alarm while briefing journalists
in Benin City, urged the state government to
declare state of emergency in the health sector.
He said: “Today, there is hardly any functional
ward that is befitting for the people to recover
from their infirmities. The wards are dilapidated
and ironically pose a major health risk to those
who are being cared for and those who render
services therein. “In some of these obsolete
facilities, doctors in their usual zeal to work
resort to the use of candles and personal
rechargeable lanterns when the authorities fail
to provide basic electricity.
The buildings are falling apart in their numbers
due to lack of maintenance. “We seriously hope
that there is no collapse of one of those
buildings on people who have come to the
hospital to get better or on those who have
come there to make people feel better. There is
no greater catastrophe than that.
“The theatres and laboratories are at best
skeletal in the services they render due to lack
of basic equipment and consumables. Patients
have to seek help in peripheral facilities and
most times fall into the hands of quacks.”

#LOVE:::How to Succeed in a Relationship with the Perfect Girl

Image result for how to succeed in a relationship with the perfect girl
1. Ta
lk.
Communication is key. If you are afraid to talk to the girl that you’re dating, or if you’d rather do something else, you need to set some priorities. Ask her how her day was. You want her to listen to you, so you should listen to her–conversation is a two way street.
2 People love talking about themselves.
Ask her about her dreams and hopes. It will make her feel like you care about her.
Always ask her about school and her day as well.
3 Try to avoid asking lots of questions about where she’s been and what she was doing.
If they say “Be right back, I gotta go do something”, it’s usually best not to ask what she were doing, as it can make a girl feel annoyed.
4 Think before you speak!
Try to keep things very very positive. If she’s complaining about life, don’t agree. Tell her she rocks and support her.
5 Compliments are excellent, but know that you should stop at the point where you’re just listening to yourself talk.
Girls know when you’re sincere and when you’re just blowing hot air. But, compliments never hurt anyone.
6 Nobody can write the definitive guide on dating.
You need to experiment for yourself! Remember, romance is not always an easy thing.
7 Listen to what she has to say and pay attention.
8 Above all, take care of yourself.

HELP: I NEED HELP! The Lady I Want To Marry Is A Big Problem

Hope this guys will be wise enough to ease himself from his "rude" girl before it's too late for him...
I no longer know what to do. We have been together for 8 months and I want to marry her very soon. I have my reasons. She has been my childhood crush and now that we are finally dating I don't want anything to stop us. Guys come for her from time to time, but I know she's not a fling.

Sadly, I have serious problems with her aggression. A little thing she picks an issue with it and starts dishing out insults and hurtful words to me.

I always try to apologise and make her happy even when she is wrong not me, just so she will be calm. It was working before, now it no longer works.

Whenever I try to make her happy she gets more angry and say I'm trying to patronise her. If I take her out on shopping she could just get angry, saying I'm trying to buy her with money that I don't love her.

What do I do? There was a day I had to invite my sister to come talk to her as woman to woman talk, this lady pulled the belt on her jeans and began to assault my sister. I'm grateful to God that I was there even my left eye is still bruised with the way she hit me too that day. And the worst of it all is that rather than change, she gets more angry and more violent.

I threatened to call off the wedding thinking it will make her rethink but it didn't, instead she got angry that day and pushed me against the wall. God saved me because if there was knife or bottle around that day with the way she was angry she could have used any on me.

I love her, I don't want to call off the wedding and I want her to be wife but her aggression is too much. She get angry easily... and she seems stronger than I am (Yes she works out alot).

Please, I need help! Can I cope with this lady for the rest of my life?

Breaking News: Ooni and I are no more - Olori Wuraola finally breaks silence.

The former wife of the Ooni of Ife Olori Wuraola has come out to confirm that her marriage to the reigning Ooni of Ife Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II has crashed. Earlier reported that there have been rumours of trouble in the marriage of the Ooni due to several undisclosed reasons. Now, the Olori has reverted to her maiden name Zaynab Otiti Obanor. The spreading of false information (through "sources" afraid to be identified) is the mark of cowards and a cover up for guilty parties to justify their horrific actions. There is absolutely no truth to the media circulated lies of infidelity and infertility- on my end. What I can confirm, is that the Ooni and I are no more. I inhale love & exhale gratitude. My journey continues as a Humanitarian aiding women and victims of domestic violence & abuse with the United Nations. No matter how much time you've invested, no matter the use of media to silence & manipulate, no matter the circumstance, slander, embarrassment, threats and lies: Get out and seek immediate help! We've seen this movie before. Women being dragged in the press & blamed for everything under the sun. This behavior is unacceptable. I urge those involved to be mindful of their actions for the eyes of our Almighty God are always watching. The seeds of slander is a cancer that harvests to eat away the souls of the planter. The throne is sacred and the attempts to tarnish the name of a Queen, in defense or on behalf of a silent King makes all involved look terrible. Remain dignified in all you do. It's not the end of the world, but the start of a new chapter and you must turn the page with grace. The world is watching. As I bid adieu to this chapter, my wish to you all is to step into your lives - boldly & fearlessly, the way God intended and live not just by words, but through example. The best chapter in our lives is the one we are writing now. Thank you for your love and support. With peace, love & light, -Her Highness, Zaynab Otiti Obanor."

Nigeria Police declare senator deserter

The Nigeria Police Force has declared a senator, Isah Misau, as a deserter from the force.
The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that the Chairman, Senate Committee on Navy, Mr. Misau, had in an interview granted to a newspaper published on August 10, alleged that police officers pay bribe for special promotion.
The lawmaker had also accused the Inspector-General of Police of embezzling N10 billion monthly Internally Generated Revenue and taking bribe to post Commissioners of Police to State Commands.
The Force spokesperson, Jimoh Moshood, who disclosed this while briefing journalists in Abuja on Sunday, said Mr. Misau deserted the force on September 24, 2010.
“The Nigeria Police Force hereby declares DSP Mohammed Isah Hamman (Sen. Isah Hamman Misau) a deserter from the Nigeria Police Force.
“The Force will definitely take appropriate action in this circumstance as it has to do with a deserter under the Police Act and Regulations,” Mr. Moshood said.
He said that Mr. Misau deserted the force when he was redeployed to Niger Command where he refused to report for duty.
He said that under the Act, the Criminal Code and Penal Code treat a deserter as a suspected criminal under the law.
“All other security agencies in the country are equally implored to assist the Nigeria Police Force in this regard,” he said.
He said that the retirement letter Mr. Misau presented to journalists recently was forged and dubiously obtained.
The Force spokesman said that Mr. Misau perpetuated an act of impersonation by acknowledging the receipt of the suspected forged retirement letter, as a Deputy Commissioner of police instead of his actual rank of DSP.
Mr. Moshood added that the letter dated March 5, 2014, four years after Misau with AP No. 57300 deserted the force was being investigated by the force.
“AP No. 57300 DSP Mohammed Isah Hamman is still a police officer and not regarded as a Senator by the Nigeria Police Force.
“The retirement letter he is parading is a suspected forged document under investigation.
“It is on record for the public and the media to verify that, as AP No. 57300 DSP Mohammed Isa Hamman was being wanted as a deserter, he contested and lost the Bauchi Central Senatorial seat in 2011 under the then Action Congress of Nigeria.
“This is a clear element and criminal liability of fraud and impersonation, because under the law you cannot be a police officer and still stand for election,” he said.
The spokesman advised members of the public to disregard all the allegations against the I-G and the Force by Mr. Misau.
He said that considering all the above, the Force was compelled to seek the prompt consideration of the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges to prevail on him to return to the Force.
Efforts to get the reaction of Mr. Misau proved abortive as calls and SMS to his cell phone were not responded to.
